Looking Back at the 30/30 challenge. All 30 paintings to view in one glance!  I would like to thank Leslie Saeta for hosting this challenge. There were 1483 artists around the world who participated in this challenge. Really impressive!

This was my first time participating in this challenge. If I do it again, I will definitely paint at least one day before. So many times I finished after midnight. But it was fun! Thanks for hanging out with me this month and thanks for all the support, comments and likes on my Facebook page and here.

Day 30 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I made it!!!!  This is the first time I took the challenge, well, this is the first time since I left the corporate world working 10 hours a day. It would have been impossible while still working. I will make a collage of all 30 paintings tomorrow. I am glad I did it.

Day 29 of the 30/30 Challenge. Exhausted, but still hanging in there.

Day 28 of the 30/30 challenge. Same subject as yesterday. I will have to work a little bit more on this one.

Day 27 of 30/30 Challenge

Getting to the end of the challenge. 3 days left.

Dy 26 of the 30/30 Challenge

Photo courtesy of my cousin Daniela Bartosova. I wanted to paint a little bit older "child" today. Quite happy, although it is really late at night.

Day 25 of the 30/30 Challenge

I am binge listening to Leslie Saeta's blog radio show "Artists Helping Artists" and having fun. So many great ideas, interviews....

This painting is of my grandson who was running away from me the whole time we went for a "walk". That was a few year back, but I only decided to paint it just before Christmas and I was going to paint it on a 40 x 40 canvas. Of course, other things got in a way and I started, but never finished. So today I decided to paint it in a small 12 x 9 format and I am quite happy with it.

Day 24 of the 30/30 challenge

It was quite enjoyable painting this adorable child.

Day 23 of 30/30 Challenge.

Today I actually finished before midnight, unbelievable. I was very happy to paint a face a little bit bigger than 2 cm. Very handsome young man. Photo is from my friend and this is her grandson. What to paint tomorrow? Would be nice to paint a winter scene or an adult, but I am sticking to my theme. So it will be a child again.

Day 22 of the 30/30 Challenge

I have to post an unfinished painting. It is really late; I will finish it after the Challenge is over. This is becoming a real challenge!!!

Day 21 of he 30 in 30 challenge. This one was a little bit different, so I thought I would try. I got a photo from a friend, Jeannie Albert-Ryan; she is a fabulous photographer. 9 days left in this crazy marathon. Not sure it was a good idea to pick paintings of children as my theme, but I will stick to it and finish it.

Day 20 - 30/30 Challenge

Two thirds done, hallelujah! This one I tried to do in a limited palette; transparent oxide red, viridian, yellow ochre and white....just or a change. It was interesting.

Day 19 of the 30/30 challenge. I actually had a lot of fun painting this one.  could go on forever, but it is after midnight and I am supposed to post; so hoping this is "postable". This was a good one. I might think of making it in a bigger size. Looks like yesterday painting was quite successful. happy.

Day 18 of the 30/30 painting marathon

This is Olivia, my friend's granddaughter. I can see a lot of things I could do to improve it, but it will have to wait till after this marathon is over.

Day 17 of the 30/30 challenge. It is Saturday, so I thought I would do something simple...it was not simple. And it is Sunday already.

day 16 of 30/30

Painted Samson again catching a big fish. The photo is taken from above, difficult angle. I did not take a good photo...it's 2:00 AM. This one I will have to re-visit again.

Day 15 of 30/30

Today I painted one of the dancers from the children folk dancing show again. It is day 15, which means half of the challenge is done. I will stick to my theme and make 15 more paintings with children in them. This one was an older child, but still a child.

Day 14 of the 30/30

For today I chose a photo of my grandson in Bali again. It is such a pleasure to paint him. The challenge was that jungle of greenery around him. 14 days into the challenge and I am still in it. Wow!

Day 13 of the Thirty Paintings in 30 Days

Today I was just having fun. I found a photo I took 3 years ago in a Luhacovice Spa in Czech Republic. They had a children folklore dance competition and this was a Slovak Folklore group. I just picked this little boy and the girl who always looked after him. they were adorable!

Day 12 - 30/30

Today, actually tonight I painted a little girl in an apple orchard.  t wil need a little bit more work, but it will have to be postable for today. The photo is courtesy of a wonderful friend photographer - it is actually her daughter.

Thirty Paintings in 30 Days - Day 11

Today I picked one of our old pictures with my sister and me; she was about 9 or 10 and I was 13 or 14. Originally I planned the same type of vintage painting as I did with "Cousins", but then the painting took me totally different route. I have never painted people who smile, I   thought it was almost impossible, so that was another reason I tried this photo. It will need a little bit more work later, but for my painting marathon it is done. It is 1:00 PM and time to post. I am really enjoying this challenge.

Day 10 !!!!

Wow, one third done!

Today I painted Samson again in their courtyard in Bali; when they lived there. The chair is really that huge. Alex brought that chair from Bali to Vancouver and keeps it in his backyard. No face today, but it was challenging anyway, with that tiny figure to make it noticeable.

Day 9 of 30 paintings in 30 days.

I was exhausted yesterday, so  I chose what I thought would be a simple little painting. Took me some time anyway, because i cannot paint fast.  The photo was from my friend Jeannie. She is a great photographer and I was very happy to paint it.  But  also realized I really like to paint children's faces. I sort of missed it on this painting. O, well; 21 more.

Day 8 of the Challenge.  This is from an old photo of my sister and my cousin....cca 1958; all I had time today was to do a sketch, but I will return to this and finish it.

Day 7 of the 30 n 30.

Wow, one week down! This is Samson, my grandson with rice paddy hat on. I always liked this picture, never tried to paint it. Now, with the 30 paintings and my theme "children" I decided to go ahead and do it. I will work on it a little bit more, just to make it even better, after the painting marathon is over. 23 days left! And I am posting 5 minutes before midnight Eastern Time Zone.

Day 6 of January 30 in 30 Challenge

Today was not my day. Posting anyway, because of the challenge, but I will have to re-visit this one. At this point it is  sketch only.

Day 5 of the challenge. Seems like I am stuck with blues. Tomorrow I will try something else. I took this pantograph about 8 years ago at Britania Sailing Club. The boy in the picture is already 9 years old. I have painted him before. He is a joy to paint.

25 days left. O boy!

This is Day 4 painting for the 30 in 30 challenge. I painted a small portrait of my grandson. He loves blue, so I made the background blue too. 26 days left!

Day 3 of the 30 in 30 challenge.

Today I started to paint very late. I decided to paint Lili, my friend's granddaughter standing in the grass in her new dress. In the middle of painting I decided to experiment. I quite like the result.

This is Day 2 of the January Painting Challenge. It is 8 x 10 oil on canvas board.

Happy New Year everyone. I have never blogged before . This is my very first time. And Tessa on the Beach is my Day 1 painting in the Art challenge hosted by an incredible artist with endless energy, Leslie Saeta. She is hosting a 30 day painting marathon called 30 in 30. And I joined! And so did almost 1000 artists from over 20 countries.  There is still time to join: http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.ca/

I left the corporate world in November of 2014 and decided to devote full time to the joy called painting.  Producing a painting a day is something very new to me as I usually take quite a long time to finish a painting. but it might be a really good way to kick start my new chapter in life.

I decided to paint smaller paintings during this challenge, which might have been a double challenge as this will be a series of paintings about children. It might have been easier to paint it bigger. But I like challenges.

All the best in 2015 and let's hope it will be filled with health, happiness, art and good music.
